Endemic Compositions

Each environment holds within it a unique identity, shaped by the elements that make it distinct. In Endemic Compositions,

J-P explores the question: what if these spaces, with their inherent characteristics, could be played as instruments?

What if we composed for the room itself, allowing its specific qualities to dictate the sound, free from the constraints of traditional instruments?

Using mechanical tools and techniques, the artist invites you to listen to the sounds of the spaces we inhabit—sounds that are often overlooked yet are fundamentally part of the environment.

These compositions are site-specific, created without external instruments, and exist only in that space. Once the exhibition concludes, the sounds will continue to reside in that environment, though they might never be played again. The compositions become endemic to the room, inseparable from the space they emerged from, impossible to replicate elsewhere.

Endemic Compositions seeks to reconsider our relationship with sound and space.
